                 Chapter Summary:

The chapter starts with Captain Ahab on the side of the ship looking down into the water. Soon enough, Starbuck comes out and joins him. Ahab than began to tell of his sorrow in the wearing journey to find MobyDick. He then speaks of how he abandoned his wife and child for 40 years for his search of revenge and calls himself a fool. With that, Starbuck then exclaims that he should forget about the whale and revenge and return to Nantucket to his wife and child. However, Ahab is not sure that he can stop now in his hunt. He then explains this dilema as having some invisible power pushing him to continue. Disheartened, Starbuck then leaves, leaving Ahab to continue to stare into the water. Then Fedalllah comes and joins the captain staring into the water.
